tiff or other image formats in lisp

Are there packages for reading/writing/displaying  TIFF or
other image formats in Allegro CL?  A pile of links to the
libtiff.a routines might be sufficient.  I'm using Allegro 4.1
on a SPARC station.

My commitment to TIF is rather insubstantial, and if tools for
pbm or other formats were better, I could use them.  I have
only monochrome (and not even gray-scale) images from a scanner.
