You probably have heard about this before, just thought I would mention it.
I am not sure if the problem is in lisp or in macsyma.
When you rubout quickly, macsyma does the rubout, but doesnot do the backspace
and erase character. So that the screen is not correct, but macsyma gets
the right thing for example if I type 
FOOBAR<rubout,rubout,rubout>; then the screen echos FOOBAR;
but macsyma returns FOO

The problem is neither a LISP bug, nor a MACSYMA bug, but an ITS bug. 
MOON claims that he discussed this with RMS whose code is involved, 
and that RMS can fix it but won't.  Politics or something.
