I see no problem with leaving LAPSETUP| alone so that you can use it in
the case with PURE = NIL. That way, you are using it only as a clobber
a specific CALL to be a PUSHJ (or whatever) and LAP would just never
be using it that way - I think the difference is in the NILness of the
second arg.
