Grumble, grumble. I was in a (READ) and typed 4,34 instead of 4.34
... 'No problem,' said I, 'for Lisp is smart and doesn't snarf commas
until I type a space' ... so I typed a rubout and it grabbed the 4,
leaving me with a mere 3 .... sigh.
