RLB tells me he spoke to HIC about a mode in SUSPEND or something
whereby the MACSYMA dump need not duplicate on disk the pure pages
contained in the PURQIO dump. This sounds to me like a neat hack
that should be done, and HIC tells me he is willing to do it, only
that GLS didn't think this should be done. Since MACSYMA has always
loaded in the LISP dump on SYS;, I don't see why not. Comments from
GLS?
The reason for dumping out the complete set of pages is mainly robustness;
in case the LISP somehow disappears, the MACSYMA is still runnable.
There is a tight enough coordination between the LISP people and the MACSYMA
people that this may not be a problem; but for the sake of other suspended
programs, I think that flushing the pages should not be the DEFAULT mode,
even if offered as a (slightly dangerous) alternative.
