Your charges of ignoring Macsyma are unfounded. You yourself point out
the proper way to deal with the problem of old files with CR's in them.
If you do (STATUS SYNTAX /
) in 1861, and set CR to that syntax, you will get the old behaviour.
The new LISP RECENT should mention this.
Because of the stand the LISP system hackers are taking on this issue,
I am not responsible if someone tries to LOADFILE in a file to the new
MACSYMA in which the non-invisibility of CR is assumed.
