This was supposed to be a bug fix rather than a change to the function's
contract. Could you show me specifically what got broken by it? The Lisp
number and bit-hacking primitives are supposed to work uniformly for fixnums
and bignums so that you couldn't see any difference, although this is not
actually true in absolutely all cases.
