    The editor insists on trying to get to ai to mail things (even if one logs in
    and specifies mc).  The result seems to be that no mail can be sent if AI is
    down. 
I fixed LOGIN to setq SI:FILE-DSK-DEVICE-NAME as everyone thought it did.
In the meantime you can set it yourself manually if you want.
