cadr7 joystick mouse

From: cent at MIT-AI (Pandora B. Berman)
what happened to the mouse buttons? they are kind of useful, i hear
Roman I, II, III take the place of the three buttons (though I'm not
sure typing them quickly doubles them).
i cannot say strongly enough that whatever its other virtues or vices,
IT SHOULDN'T BE BELOW THE KEYBOARD. it is simply in the way. a
lower profile would not help enough to counteract the awkwardness
of having it in the way. it should be moved. possibly above the keyboard?
i suppose that either side is to far away for fingers attempting to type.
I disagree strongly. A touch typist needs to keep her/his hands in
the 'home' position at all times, and having the frob within easy
reach of the right thumb (either thumb?) is JUST the right place for
it, if it could be lowered so that normal typing wouldn't be
interfered with. Oh well, I guess this is one of those questions of
taste; some will always hate it, and some will love it. How do you
make a reasonable compromise? Provide both kinds of mice always with
each LISPM? (How about people who can't stand the frob right below
the space bar?)
