Your diagnosis is probably correct.  Unfortunately this can't be fixed
until the long awaited new garbage collector is finished, which may not
be soon.  However, in the interim things are supposed to be done in such
a way that most reasonably written macros can't lose.  Could you please
mail me a pointer to your code so I can look at it?  It may be that it
is reasonable and points up a bug someplace.
