    When fdefine-carefully asks you if you are sure you want to redefine a function,
    and you type N, it goes into the error handler.  Wouldn't a more reasonable behavior
    be for it to simply not redefine the function and go on?
FDEFINE has done what you request for six months to a year.  Maybe there's
a bug in the cross-package-misdefinition question instead; I will look
into that.
