I have been keeping a file of people's commentaries on DEFSYSTEM.
Several people have complained that it is hard to use, and I am planning
to start working on a proposal for how to fix it, someday.  I don't
actually agree with you that the entire idea of having a system
declaration should be replaced with a program; the little program would
be almost identical in most cases with lots of other such little
programs.  However, providing more clear control over what is going on
does seem to be called for, and there may be a lot of ideas in your mail
that could be successfully incorperated into an updated DEFSYSTEM.  Thanks
