zwei creates new buffers when switching selected windows.

In Release 5.0 [Beta Test rev 7], on Lisp Machine Buddy Holly (3600):

in zwei, save out the current buffer using c-x c-s.  IMMEDIATELY (before
it finishes saving the file), type select-T.  Type some stuff to the
foreign system, waiting for the file write to finish.  Switch back to
zwei using select-E.  Zwei will create a new buffer (*BUFFER-n* style)
and select it.
