In Symbolics 3600 Zwei in Release 6.0 Beta IIc,
microcode TMC5-FPA-MIC 315, FEP 17, with UTIL, on Lisp Machine Tweety Pie:
Is there some way of enabling this automatically by modifying the
attribute list at the top of a text file?
I take it that by "text file" you mean "source file". Apparently,
"Fill" in Lisp (or any) mode is not a recognized attribute-line
attribute.
It is not clear to me that it would be a good idea to add it; a couple
of issues are raised:
- The user interface semantic picture is muddied by the existence of a
"nofill" property that is only recognized by Text mode;
- there would probably be considerable sentiment against having fill
mode in Lisp mode forced on any person who edits of a file, given how
likely it is to trip somebody writing long lines of code;
- there are actually two modes concerned with filling, Fill and
Fill-comments.
I don't have much of the historical background for the present state of
things. Perhaps others can comment on this.
