minibuffer weirdness

    Experimental Pengi 16, microcode 3640-MIC 394, FEP 127,

    FEP0:>v127-debug.flod(31), FEP0:>v127-info.flod(44),
Machine serial number 5233, on Hilbert's Nullstellensatz:

do m-sh-D, type ``read'' in the minibuffer; it says possible topics are
Function READ and Function ZL:READ and prompts you again. Type the
single character f: that character does not appear in the minibuffer.
Now type a space; the character f appears, but space does not.

This is a known bug that is not limited to the context above, e.g.,
another place it shows up is when you opt to edit the patch command in
m-X Finish Patch. It is a difficult bug that has, on several past
occasions, defied fixative efforts by Moon and others. Perhaps it is
time to try it again, now that so much of the window substrated has been
changed. Thanks for bringing it up again.
