word abbrev mode

In Symbolics 3640 Editor in Genera 7.0G1, IP-TCP 52.0, NFS 1.6,

In word abbrev mode, not all of the expanded definitions get
redisplayed.

For example, I have "hte" as an abbrev for "the".  If I type "hte" and
then a space, I don't see any change until I do a control-L.  I also
have "arin" defined as an abbrev for "Artificial Intelligence".  For
this one, it immediately redisplays after typing the following space.

Looking at the various abbrevs that I have defined, I noticed that the
ones that do not get redisplayed immediately expand to lowercase-only
letters, while the ones that *do* get redisplayd immediately have
either uppercase letters or non-alphabetic characters in their
expansions.

Please let me know what you find.
