in two window mode with both windows looking at the same buffer, c-m-a affects both windows! so does cntrl-p and cntrl-n. cntrl-v and meta-v affect only one window, however, things are wedged afterwards. The cursor does not move past the characters being inserted (ie type foo, insert oof).
