waterfall menus

I also wonder if there are plans to implement waterfall menus in
CLIM. Currently if you define nested menus in CLIM, the
implementation simply gives you sequential popups rather than a
waterfall that you can back out of.

This type of menu is really a function of the host window system that
CLIM is running on. As such, CLIM 2.0 will implement such menus if the
host window system provides them, otherwise not.

There is an undocumented function called CLIM:HIERARCHICAL-MENU-CHOOSE
that may do what you want, but there is no guarantee that it will be in
CLIM 2.0.

The important thing to keep in mind is that, for the most part, CLIM is
not in the business of implementing look and feel. CLIM is intended to
integrate with the look and feel provided by the host. This goal will
be much better met by CLIM 2.0 than it is by CLIM 1.0.
