locks

In our discussion of locks I thought someone said that there were unexported 
clim lock routines available--I assumed in 1.0 or 1.1--.  Is this incorrect?

If they are present in clim-utils:: could someone post the syntax so those
of us who don't have 2.0 can use them as an interim measure?  I hate to use
a system dependent approach because our application has to run on both
sun and symbolics and it will be difficult to partition the code that uses
locks.
