    In  10.5.1 of the CLIM-2 documentation:

    In the entry for ADD-MENU-ITEM-TO-COMMAND-TABLE it is stated that one of
    the acceptable values for TYPE is :FUNCTION, but no other discussion is
    given.

    So, I went ahead and tried doing the obvious thing.  By examining the
    command-table I see that the item gets put in the menu just fine, but
    nothing appears when the menu comes up.

    What's the scoop?

I bet that :FUNCTION simply isn't supported in menu bars in the Allegro
back-end.  I don't think the Genera back-end hacks it right, either.

That's kind of a pain.
