clearing to EOLN

Using the STREAM-CURSOR-POSITION and STREAM-SET-CURSOR-POSITION commands I can
display text at a given location. The problem is text previously displayed
there is not overwritten. How do I clear out this text? Is there a
clear-to-end-of-line command or something similar? Thanks for any help.
