request help with installing PCL on Vax and Mac

I am having some problems installing May Day PCL with both Vax Lisp 3.1 
and Macintosh Allegro CL 1.3.2 
The first error I get with Vax Lisp is in the file FNGEN.LSP:

    Error signalled by ERROR
