The first commercial implementation of CLOS for workstations (Sun, Apollo ....)
was announced by DELPHI in October 1988.

DELPHI's proprietary implementation of CLOS is one of the features along
with a specially tuned version of CLX and a multithread facility for
concurrency embedded in Delphi Common Lisp (DCL).

Derived from KCL, DCL, in one compact, portable package that runs on a
variety of standard computers including Sun, HP/Apollo, DEC VAX/Ultrix and
386/Unix-based PCs, provides a complete implementation of Common
Lisp, enhanced with the latest recognized standards in the Lisp world.

The just released version 1.9 of DCL includes an implementation of CLOS
with significantly improved performance, specially in the area of generic
function call and slot access.

Some benchmark results: DCL 1.9
					  Machine: Sun-4/260

10,000 SINGLE ARGUMENT GENERIC FUNCTION CALLS

real time 0.317

10,000 GENERIC FUNCTION CALLS WITH SLOT ACCESS

real time 0.467

100,000 SLOT ACCESSES WITHIN A SINGLE METHOD

real time 0.150

Delphi Common Lisp will be shown at IJCAI - Detroit - in August
- Delphi Booth 922.
