PCL compile error in Allegro 1.2.2

When trying to compile PCL under Allegro CL 1.2.2 on a Mac IIx running
system 6.0.3 I get the following error message:
Compiling HIGH...
> Continuable Error: The function DESCRIBE is already defined in the CCL
kernel.
> While executing: #<An Anonymous Compiled Function>
> If Continued: Replace the definition of DESCRIBE.
> Type Command-/ to continue, Command to abort.

The fuction DESCRIBE is indeed listed in Steele's Common Lisp bible.
What do you suggest?
