There is a newer version of PCL on arisia. It is May Day PCL (REV 2).
It fixes all of the following:

    In defclass.lisp of May Day PCL, system:*compiler-message-string* should
    be lucid::*compiler-message-string*.

    Trying to install the final PCL in /import/pcl/may-day/. It compiled
    fine in Lucid (after changing system:mumble to lucid::mumble). But it
    loses in Franz since it's missing the files cpatch and quadlap.

    I'm very disappointed that Mike Thome's enhancements have not been included in
    May Day PCL.
