Disabling Command-.

Is there a way to disable Command-. from causing an abort?
I've set *eventhook* to a function which traps all mousedown and key 
events, and effectively disables all other MCL key sequences, but 
I don't want the user to be able to break out of the busy-wait cycle
which the program runs.
