radio-buttons & static-text

In switching from MCL 2.0b1 to 2.0f2, I've noticed that I can no longer
push radio-button's before I assign them to a view.  Also, the first
button of a cluster added to a view is defaulted 'on', rahter than 'off'
as it used to be.

Secondly, I haven't found any way to highlight arbitrary segments of
static text without using trap calls.  There should be some simpler
way of doing this common task.  Is there?
