Well, FileMaker Pro from Claris probably will give you much more
in the way of script support, and their recently released FMPro
Server is rather fast.
You can send and receive AppleEvents from MCL; check out
cambridge.apple.com:/pub/mcl/contrib/applescript-from-lisp.hqx.
