I've run into this before myself. I think the docs are just plain wrong.
In fact, I have written this into the margin of Inside Mac, I-115.
I think there are other undocumented situations where the toolbox
changes the CurResFile so I set it explicitly quite often,
especially before and after any change to a resource.
