Dumb Fred Q

Don't ask me how I know this, but this is a dumb question:)

Okay, I have some ideas about customizing Fred that would go beyond mucking
with *comtab* (which I gather is how I could customize key behavior). So I
guess I would sub-class <fred-window>? (Stop me when I get completely stupid.)
But then is there any way to change the behavior of MCL to use <my-fred-window>
for File/New or Open or other ways MCL creates fred-style windows?
