I wholeheartedly concur with DLW's remarks.  I do *not* think
that COP in its present form is worth even considering adding
to the language.  I started out to generalize something,
and went off the deep end.  I sent the message out anyway hoping
to inspire someone to do better.  (I said as much in the message,
but I want to repeat the point here.)
