initializing windows on suns

The initialize-windows command problem is very interesting.  I've
recently seen some behavior like this from running Lisp under adb, but
never otherwise.  I assume from your message that you're running a lisp
directly under an editor?  It might help to run a shell in your editor
buffer and invoke the lisp under that.
