quoted keyword arguments

Figures 3-2 and 3-3 show the expansion of defclass forms into
ensure-class forms. In the expansion, the keyword arguments are quoted
as in ':direct-superclasses. Since keywords evaluate to themselves,
why the quote? What am I missing?
