I've noticed similar behavior when using the mailer on babyl files with more than
~170 messages. Many operations become ridiculously slow. Simply loading such
a file can take up to a few hours!!! The worse part is that there are no warnings
as to when this "Phase transition" occurs. If I had some warning, I can at least
try to keep the size of the file small. How does the rest of 'SLUGies' take care
of this?
