I think what you need to do is turn on the EGC
in the are DW::*PRESENTATION-AREA*.  We had this
problem also, we used the AREAS mode of the PEEK
window to track down where we were loosing memory.

A form that does turns the EGC on in this area is:

(si::make-area :name 'dw::*presentation-area* :gc :ephemeral)
