Zmacs question

How do I rigidly shift text beyond the left margin in Zmacs?

The following
	c- some negative number
	c-m\
rigidly un-indents to the margin only.  For exmple, if you have one
space between the margin and the first character, any negative argument
greater than or equal to one will remove the space.  However a negative
argument, say -2 will not chop off the first character.

How can I CHOP OFF COLUMS of text on the left side to the screen?
