    Could someone please tell me if there is a way to read tar tapes
    from a Symbolics?  E-mail to me or post to SLUG.  Thanks!

Genera 8.0 has a Read TAR Tape command.  In 7.2 you can load
SYS:LMTAPE;READ-TAR-TAPE and use the TAPE:READ-TAR-TAPE function.
