Tell us, we can uudecode and uncompress at Genera 8 or no.

Yes. I have used untar on Symbolics.
load a file at SYS:LMTAPE;tar-tapes.lisp
and try read-tar-tape function.

The next problem is "Is it possible to uncompress and uudecode the tar
file ?"

I 've heard that Genera 8 softs are compressed with the same format as
.Z ?
Is there are uuencode/decode program?
