Package problem, revisted
I believe that this default NeXT Allegro CL non-standard reader
behavior was prominently documented, although I don't know how obvious
it might have been to a casual user of NeXT Allegro CL.
I was a such a casual user who never looked at any documentation. I just
wanted to get some timing statistics on a standard benchmark that I wrote.
I think it is a good tribute to CommonLisp and its designers that a casual
user like myself, one who is well versed in CommonLisp but unfamiliar with any
particular implementation, can get a several thousand line program running on
a new implementation in a matter of minutes, without ever reading any
documentation. Still, one is always bitten by the 0.1% of CommonLisp which is
UnCommon.
