Segmentation violation

What is Allegro telling me when I get a message like this:

"Previous error: Receive signal number 11 (Segmentation violation)"

I tend to get this occasionally when dealing with window system code.  Currently, I'm
working with the CLX provided with 3.1.13 and Express Windows.

What advice can you give on how to debug a "Segmentation violation"?
