You have to do it as a either a VALRET to the EXEC (try
:I*^PT^PC$fsechodisp$ w @^KEnable^JContinue^J$ w ^\) or stuff some
PDP10 assembler code into a buffer and execute it (see the Display
Load Average routine in BBNLIB for an example of this sort of thing).
Doing it directly with RPCAP% and EPCAP% is more general, but
valreting is much easier....
