On CADR-1 (though it has happened on all others I have used also), system 26.3,
microcode 616:  I was using (ED <filename>) in an INIT file to preload the editor.
Sometimes it works, but about 70% of the time it loads about half of my files and
then craps out with the message

The function NIL is undefined.
