You have it backwards.
The purpose of my proposal is to spare other people the trouble
of changing their file systems when I create and start using
a new open keyword.
If other file systems are going to ignore only specific other
keywords, they must be changed whenever I create a new one.
It is not clear what you mean by "time to be conservative",
but if you mean I should simply abandon ideas which require
new open keywords for LMFILE, I refuse. I am willing to try
to reduce the impact on others, and that is what my previous
message was for. I am waiting to see whether other people
are willing to cooperate in trying to compromise. If they are
not, I will quit trying.
