I am planning to change the default definition of
:MULTIPLE-FILE-PLISTS to work by means of sending a :PROPERTIES
message to each pathname.

I have received objections to this, but they do not seem cogent.  It
is possible that there is nevertheless some good reason for not making
this change.  Therefore I invite more coherent explanations of any
pruported problems.  Such explanations ought, I hope, to consider
whether there are cleaner alternatives to the present solution which
might serve instead.
