I ran all of the test cases on an Explorer and found that the results were
all consistent with proposal
BACKQUOTE-COMMA-ATSIGN-DOT-COMMA:INTERCHANGEABLE, so I would have to
prefer that alternative, although I don't know who might be depending on
that behavior.
The INTERCHANGEABLE alternative also has a performance advantage by doing
less copying of lists.
