incremental display with format-graph-from-roots

Can anyone give me some tips on how one would use incremental
redisplay with clim::format-graph-from-roots? Specifically, I want to
efficiently display a steadily-growing DAG.

Also, is there a way to control the line style used between nodes by
clim::format-graph-from-roots?
