gray-stipples

I'd like to do some highlighting with a gray stipple instead of
+flipping-ink+ (which is effectively solid).

this seems not possible in CLIM 1.1

or have I missed something? 

in lispm terms, I want to 

(BITBLT wid ht alu-xor
	50%-gray 0 0
	window x y)

any suggestions?
