An old question for which I've no response ...

Under what conditions would CLIM 1.1 in MCL 2.O generate this error with
software that works fine in Lucid? What am I missing? We've halted development
on this second platform because of this error.

Ascent, descent, leading, max-width, fixed-width, and id are all unbound.  In
case it matters: 
 Widths NIL
 Name "New York"
 style (:bold :italic)
 size 10
 font-spec-cache nil
 number 2
 qd-sopec (2 3 10)
 derived 256
