Such a wild and crazy rumor... who could possibly believe it?
actually, macsyma has been running on Vaxes since October, 1979, and
on VAX/VMS since April 1980. At a number of locations. It was moved
to VMS during the first 3 weeks of April 1980 for a demonstration at
DEC. It has been running at Los Alamos and at MIT on VAX/VMS.
SRI's involvement: we were early customers of Eunice, and helped debug
it.
Franz runs on 11/780s and 11/750.
It is nice to have Eunice around, but not essential to run interpreter
or code compiled by other people.
