Lisp Code Sharing

MCL programmers around the world let's unite!!!

A few month ago I sent a message to the community asking
if there was a way to share lisp code with other MCL users.
I was told about the public archive at cambridge. While
this is a great start, this approach leaves several problems
that I would like to see solved:

  - There is no structure to directory MCL at cambridge
which makes finding things pretty hard.

  - There are no conventions that code givers must follow like
always having README, VERSION, etc... files.

  - You dont know automaticly when a newer version of a piece of
code you like is put at cambridge. You have to ftp every now
and then and check for your self.

  - Many people may be developing the same project at the same
time whitout knowing it. If its the case they would like
to know it and even cooperate!

As a (possible) solution to all these, there could be an anonymous
archive (possibly at my place) and some mailing lists to manage
the code exchanges. This you leave the info-macl mailing list to its
purpose of questions and answers.

If this sounds like a good idea to you, email me directly. If there is
sufficient support I will start the project. I am open to suggestions
about other approaches to solving the problem of code sharing.

Hope to see you all in a great cooperating community!
